Il film diretto da Matt Reeves si è aggiudicato ben quattro premi: migliori effetti visivi in un film fotorealistico, miglior personaggio animato in un film fotorealistico (Cesare), miglior simulazione degli effetti e miglior compositing. The War - Il pianeta delle scimmie è ora il principale candidato a vincere il Premio Oscar per i Migliori effetti speciali.
