The War - Il pianeta delle scimmie ha trionfato ai VES Awards, i premi che annualmente vengono assegnati dalla Visual Effects Society e dedicati proprio agli effetti visivi. Il film diretto da Matt Reeves si è aggiudicato ben quattro premi: migliori effetti visivi in un film fotorealistico, miglior personaggio animato in un film fotorealistico (Cesare), miglior simulazione degli effetti e miglior compositing. The War - Il pianeta delle scimmie è ora il principale candidato a vincere il Premio Oscar per i Migliori effetti speciali.
VES Awards 2018: le serie TV
Se The War - Il pianeta delle scimmie ha trionfato tra i film, vincendo ben quattro premi, tra le serie TV a fare mambassa di premi è stato Game of Thrones. La saga fantasy ha vinto in cinque categorie: migliori effetti visivi in un episodio fotorealistico (Beyond the Wall), miglior personaggio animato (Drogon in The Spoils of War), miglior ambiente (il lago ghiacciato di Beyond the Wall), miglior simulazione di effetti (The Dragon and the Wolf, la caduta del muro) e miglior compositing (The Spoils of War, l'attacco di Drogon)
